Qualification of Executive or Resid
dent Engineer to replace Mr Orange in case he should not return to resume hit. appointment in Hongkong.
The Executive or Resident Engineer will have to carry out such work as the Surveyor General
may direct, but his duties will probably consist chiefly.
In providing
a new and improved
system of water distribution throughout the
City
Maintenance of streets, roads, and anstruction of new streets
roads throughout the Colony

Supervision of the creation of new buildings and repairs of existing buildings pending the appointment of a special officer for this duty.
He should be from 28 to 35 years of age and should have served his time under. articles to a Civil Engineer of good standing in the Profession and should be a member or associate member of the Instituction of Avil Engineers. He should have received a sound Theoretical training, be a good mathematician, and have had considerable experience both of office and outdoor work.
It is essential that he should have thorough knowledge both theoretical and practical of the details of works of water supply and distribution and it is desirable that
